CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise helped kick off the season with a family friendly holiday celebration.
The organization is marking 40 years of service in Chattanooga and continues its mission to ensure families in the community have access to safe and affordable single-family homes.
This year, they added a festive twist by inviting families to build their dream homes in gingerbread form.
CEO Chris Thompson says it was the perfect way to celebrate the message behind their work.
“It is a time of year where we are all trying to celebrate,” Thompson said. “We are thinking about family and about being together, and one of the most important ways to do that is to be in safe homes with safe roofs over our heads and quality housing. So, the idea that we are really going to focus on this by celebrating the holidays and reminding folks how important housing is, you cannot have a better opportunity than Main Street.”
Entry into the friendly competition was ten dollars and a grand prize was awarded at the end.
Organizers say this event is one of many they hope to continue hosting as they celebrate the importance of stable and affordable housing here in Chattanooga.
