CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – CARTA presented Phase One of a new Incline Master Development Plan during Thursday’s board meeting.
The first phase is described in the board packet as an eight-month feasibility study, intended to provide guidance on the Incline Railway’s future and help the agency plan its next steps.
The board reviewed financial data showing that Incline revenue is $237,000 below budget, while operating expenses were $98,000 favorable.
Board members also discussed procurement actions, including issuing a Request for Proposals for Incline concessions and ticket sales and approving a sole-source agreement with Brookville Services to replace an Incline railcar window.
CARTA officials emphasized the Incline Railway’s importance as a key source of revenue for the agency.
The findings from Phase One are intended to inform future planning decisions and potential next steps for the Incline’s operations.
The board packet also highlights the agency’s ongoing focus on financial oversight, operational planning, and careful consideration of strategies for the Incline as part of CARTA’s broader transportation network.
