RINGGOLD, Ga. (WDEF) – Merry Christmas! It’s that time of year again when Santa, the Grinch, and a little holiday magic take over the Colonnade in Ringgold.
Shannon Wright, owner and founder of Touch the Sky Events, says the inspiration behind Merry Grinchmas came from one of the season’s most beloved stories.
“So a Merry Grinchmas came about because, you know, pretty much everybody loves the Grinch. It’s a great story about how the Grinch had the hard heart, and then it’s got softened, and so he loves people now.”
Wright says the event is all about community and togetherness.
“This is a joyful time for people to come out with their family and friends and to get some Christmas shopping done before the holidays really kick in and get started.”
With dozens of vendors, handmade gifts, and Christmas treats, there’s something for everyone at this family-friendly event.
Barbra Townsend, owner of Barber Handmade Crafts, says it’s the cheerful atmosphere that keeps her coming back year after year.
“I love all the Grenches. It just makes you feel good. It makes you feel good to see that people admire it, they like it, and a lot of them want the Grinch on their tree, or under their tree, so it’s really good.”
The Grinch himself made an appearance, joking with visitors and quoting one of his famous lines, “Three times big, look at the size of that!”
And of course, Santa Claus is there too, spreading joy and taking pictures.
“I’m getting ready for my big time of the year,” Santa said. “I’m making sure everybody has got things in order and my nice and naughty list is all ready to go. And I got to tell you guys, y’all done great this year. I don’t have anybody on the naughty list so far. I’m so proud of all the others.”
As the lights twinkle and carols fill the air, Merry Grinchmas brings the community together to celebrate the magic of the season, with plenty of laughter, love, and maybe just a little Grinchy grin.
