CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Halloween is just around the corner which means plenty of great sweet treats for the kids, but also risks of candy sending them into anaphylactic shock.
The Chattanooga Allergy Clinic reminds families to consider children with allergies when giving out candy this year. The most common food allergens in kids are: nuts, soy, eggs, dairy, and wheat. Hard, fruity candies are the ones to look for when purchasing allergy-safe candies.
For kids that do have severe allergies, consider carrying an epi-pen or a new nasal spray that provides just as effective relief as an epi-pen.
