MCMINN COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — McMinn County Schools has announced that Director of Schools Dr. Julie Goodin has unexpectedly passed away.
Dr. Goodin had taken over leadership of the McMinn school system back in July after having served in many other roles.
McMinn County Schools says that she was an incredibly talented and driven leader who cared very much about the students, staff, and families.
Her efforts, vision, and dedication to strengthening the schools had left a lasting impact on the community.
Following the news of her death, McMinn County Schools and the district office will be closed on Friday, October 24th out of respect and to allow staff and students time to grieve.
Support services will be available to students and staff to assist in handling the tragedy through the coming days.
McMinn County Schools asks people to join them in keeping Dr. Goodin’s family and friends in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
