CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga welcomed the start of a new sports destination today as The Flying Pickle officially broke ground at 2105 South Lyerly Street.
The 46,000-square-foot complex will be dedicated to pickleball, one of the nation’s fastest-growing sports.
The facility is being led by professional players Susannah Barr and Nick Petterson, who say their goal is to create a premier playing experience in the Scenic City.
When doors open in September 2026, The Flying Pickle will feature climate-controlled courts, a pro shop, and dedicated space for professional events, lessons, and community play.
Organizers say the venue will welcome athletes of all ages and skill levels from beginners to seasoned competitors.
The Flying Pickle is part of a growing national expansion, with similar facilities being developed in other cities.
Leaders hope the Chattanooga location will not only elevate the local pickleball scene but also draw tournaments and visitors to the area.
