CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Crabtree Farms in Chattanooga is a nonprofit dedicated to food access, sustainability, and education.
The farm produces more than 7,000 plants on site, with much of the harvest donated to local food banks and nonprofit partners.
Its community garden is also open to all residents, providing free tools and teaching opportunities for anyone interested in growing their own food.
Volunteers are central to Crabtree’s mission.
Shifts are available Monday through Saturday, and hours worked can be exchanged for fresh produce.
This ensures that families and individuals experiencing financial hardship still have access to healthy, locally grown food.
The farm will soon host its Fall Plant Sale on September 27th and 28th, featuring 146 different plant varieties.
From vegetables to popular native plants, the event gives residents a chance to bring home sustainable options for their gardens while directly supporting Crabtree’s work in the community.
Through donations, volunteer efforts, and educational programs, Crabtree Farms continues to grow more than food, it grows connection and resilience across Chattanooga.
