CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A day of service was observed today at the National Cemetery.
In remembrance of 9/11, organizers and volunteers gathered together to clean gravestones.
The effort was organized by the Veteran’s Administration and “Carry the Load”, a national non-profit.
Dozens of volunteers attended the event throughout the day.
Volunteer Tasha Wilson told us, “For me and my husband is actually here with me as well. His father served in the military and his mom was buried here two years ago, so it was really important for us to give back to the cemetery.”
Event organizers say they will carry on the tradition next year as well.
