DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) — The Dalton Police Department (DPD) is reaching out to the public in hopes of identifying a suspect who allegedly used counterfeit money to make a purchase.
On Friday, August 22, 2025, shortly before 7:00 p.m., the suspect entered the Sweet Spot on South Hamilton Street.
According to DPD, the suspect purchased a drink with a fake $100 bill.
The total cost of the drink was $8.53, and the suspect was given $91.47 in change.
Three days later, management with Sweet Spot went to make a deposit and the bank staff found that $100 to be fake.
The suspect was caught on surveillance footage and is described as a heavyset Hispanic man with facial hair who appeared to be in his 40s.
He was wearing a gray baseball cap and a gray t-shirt with a Dalton soccer logo on the front side.
