EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) — The East Ridge Police Department (ERPD) seized a sizeable amount of drugs and firearms following a traffic stop.
ERPD stopped a white BMW near the Bachman Tunnels for a minor traffic violation.
After further investigation, ERPD determined the two occupants of the vehicle were in possession of methamphetamine and a firearm.
Both Shawn Unruh and Miranda Gifford were detained on scene and taken to the ERPD to be further questioned.
According to the ERPD, after the stop, a search warrant was secured for a residence based on the evidence obtained at the traffic stop.
The warrant was carried out at the residence, where authorities seized 29 grams of methamphetamine and 300 grams of marijuana.
Authorities also seized various drug paraphernalia and 11 firearms.
Gifford and Unruh were booked into the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.
Unruh was charged with the following:
- Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Dangerous Felony
- Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
- Possession of Meth with Intent to Distribute
Gifford was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.
