Signal Mountain, TN (WDEF) — It’s a bargain hunter’s dream—and it’s officially underway.
The World’s Longest Yard Sale kicked off Thursday morning, stretching an impressive 690 miles from Gadsden, Alabama, all the way to Michigan. Along the route lies Taft Highway in Signal Mountain, a hotspot for treasure seekers looking for furniture, antiques, vintage finds, and one-of-a-kind knick-knacks.
Vendor Jack, a longtime participant, shared the local roots of the sale:
“All the merchandise we have—from the furniture to everything under the tent—was donated by people right here on Signal Mountain,” he said. “It actually started at Saint Augustine Catholic Church almost 31 years ago.”
Today, the event draws shoppers from across the country.
Volunteer Joanne said the yard sale has become a tradition for many:
“People come from all over. Some buy antiques or furniture to resell, others just make it part of their annual vacation. They plan around this every year.”
But this sale isn’t just about great deals—it’s also making a difference.
Proceeds from the Signal Mountain location help fund a school in Haiti, supporting more than 1,000 children and employing 100 staff members.
The World’s Longest Yard Sale continues through the weekend—and there’s no telling what hidden gems you might find.
