HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Fire crews with the Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) put out an oven fire Monday morning.
On August 4, 2025, at 8:52 a.m., crews responded to the 900 block of Sandstone Terrace on reports of an oven fire.
Upon arrival, crews found light smoke showing from the residence.
After MVFD confirmed no one was still in the house, crews entered the home and found an oven on fire with flames reaching the attic.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and contain it to the kitchen area.
The Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management (HCOEM) said an elderly woman was using the “self-cleaning” mode on the oven when the fire started.
The fire was ruled an accident, and damages are estimated to be around $10,000.
