CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A man who has been convicted twice of a 20-21 murder outside of a Brainerd night club is attempting to seek a third trial.
Kristijian Mrkonjic was convicted last year of first degree murder in the shooting death of Eric Grant.
The shooting occurred outside of the Sky Zoo Bar on June 3, 2021, which has since been torn down.
Mrkonjic himself was not present for today’s hearing
His attorney, public defender Walter Biggs, says that despite his client’s desire to seek a new trial, there are difficulties.
Biggs said, “He and I have had some communication issues and it is through no fault of his own. He wants to get me some more information. I told him just a week to 10 days ago just to mail it because of the lack of ability to have just a regular phone call. We gave up trying to have some sort of Zoom meeting.”
Mrkonjic is currently incarcerated at the Turkey Creek State Prison on a life sentence.
