Rhea County- (WDEF)-Back-to-school season is underway in Rhea County, with preparations in full swing as the first day approaches. This marks the start of the school year under new Director of Schools Dr. Amie Lonas, who took on the role this spring.
Dr. Lonas emphasizes a clear focus on supporting every student from day one. She said, “One of the things that we want to do is really focus on our academics and so making sure that students have a safe learning environment, obviously stays a priority for a school board, as well as all the resources that are needed within the classroom to include technology, which is constantly changing and trying to make sure our teachers are prepared to use that instructional technique in our classroom.”
Across the county, staff are busy getting classrooms ready, finalizing bus routes, and organizing orientation events to welcome students and families back. The community is gearing up for a successful year focused on student support and achievement.
