CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A male suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in 2024 on Fagan Street.
On October 5, 2024, officers with the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) responded to the 4100 block of Fagan Street on a person shot call.
Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old male with life-threatening injuries.
Officers began life saving measures until EMS arrived.
EMS transported him to a local hospital where he later died.
CPD’s preliminary investigation revealed the victim was outside a residence when he was shot.
CPD said the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
On July 29, 2025, CPD’s Fugitive Unit, along with the Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force, the TBI, and the U.S. Marshals service, located and arrested the suspect, LaJeffery Sparks.
Sparks was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.
He is being charged with First Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
Sparks was previously apart of the TBI’s Most Wanted List, but has since been removed.
