SALE CREEK, Tenn. (WDEF)- The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers has responded to concerns over potential flooding risk in Sale Creek.
We spoke with residents last week who said that Rock Creek, which flows into the middle of the town off of Walden’s Ridge, has a significant amount of trees and other debris that could become dangerous in a flash flood situation.
The Corps’ regulatory chief for the Nashville District, Casey Ehorn, says they have received those complaints from residents.
He says they do regulate work in the waterway.
However, he says they do not currently have the funding or authority to undertake tree or vegetation removal on Rock Creek.
He says that falls outside of their authority, and would ultimately have to be done by private landowners or local governments.
Hamilton County Emergency Management told us last week that it was ultimately up to the Corps to remove those trees.
