HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A pair of the Hamilton County Elementary Schools may soon get upgraded playgrounds.
McConnell Elementary in Lakesite and Hardy Elementary on Glass Street are set to get these upgrades.
If approved, McConnell would get a new multipurpose gym and Hardy would have their playground upgraded in a partnership with the Trust for Public Land.
These would be funded with up to two million in bond funds.
Currently, leaders say these schools are stretched thin in terms of their P.E. offerings.
“People in that neighborhood were talking and said they don’t feel like they get their proper share, that they have been taxed and all of the goods have been going to the north of the county in Soddy-Daisy, etcetera. So this project is going to be very well received, timely, and not a day too soon.”
-Warren Mackey, Hamilton County Commissioner District 5
The Hamilton County Commission will vote on these upgrades next week.
