HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF) – Hixson residents escape an overnight house fire when their working smoke alarms alerted them.
At 3:42 A.M., Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a reported house fire on 6200 block of Wilder Road.
Flames were found coming from the exterior of the home and near close proximity to where electricity was flowing into the home.
Firefighters established a supply line and put out the fire on the outside and in the attic.
EPB removed power from the home and CPD directed traffic.
Two adults escaped the fire before CFD arrived, stating they woke up when the smoke detectors went off.
Most of the damage was to portions of the roof and attic.
The American Red Cross is assisting the homeowners.
