SODDY DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF) — What started as a family passion project has grown into a vibrant Lego hub in Soddy-Daisy, bringing creativity, community, and bricks together under one roof.
“So scenic City Bricks was a family passion project that we, we started in 2020. We were going to open up in 2020. Unfortunately, with Covid happening in 2020, we made the decision to, to hold off. And, we kind of waited. We weren’t in a hurry. We were looking for the right spot. And we were very thankful to find that here in Saudi. Daisy. We really wanted this to be, a community based, store someplace where the local builders could come and hang out, talk Lego, play with bricks, and just have a have a good time,” said Chris Robel, owner of Scenic City Bricks.
“We do our summer camp programs at Baylor School here in Chattanooga. This is our fourth year being out there, and we teach about, 200 kids every summer run them through different Lego camps. Anything from, our creative building camp to a robotics camp to, this week we’re doing, Lego Movie Maker, where they’re doing stop motion animation. We do buy, sell and trade. We carry a vast selection of new in box sets, both current as well as, retired sets. We are a Lego authorized reseller. So we do get product direct from Lego, So we always have the the most recent sets. We also do a vast selection of use sets, pre-owned sets. So these are sets that folks have bought, whether from us or somewhere else. They’ve taken them home. They’ve built them. They’ve had their fun with them. They’ve displayed them, they’ve played with them. And now they want to trade them in on something else. So they are able to bring those sets in. We take those back in on trade, either giving them cash or a store credit. minifigs, bulk bricks. You can come in, any day of the week, and fill up bulk boxes,” said Robel.
“We have a wide selection of bulk of bulk brick. We add about 40 or 50 pounds every week of clean sanitize bulk brick to the table. So there’s always something new to find there. And then, of course, our build a fig stand where you can build your own minifig. We have thousands and thousands of minifig parts and pieces, that you can click together and create your very own, your very own face to take home with you. So all of our prices are very reasonable. We try to stay very competitive. We pick sunny days because we wanted to have a, a very competitive store where we could pay folks really well for the Lego they brought in, and then turn around and resell it to the community at a, at a fair price. we chose Saudi Daisy as the place to open up our store. We opened up February 15th. It’s a family passion project. Really? Something that we did, with my wife and my son. I have a 24 year old son who has muscular dystrophy and, is wheelchair bound, and we really wanted something for him to be passionate about. A reason for him to get out of the house and, and come in and be involved in the community. And, he’s been a lifelong Lego fan as well as myself. And so we decided that a Lego store would be the perfect family passion project,” said Robel
