DEKALB COUNTY, Al. (WDEF) — A DeKalb County man is facing assault charges after allegedly assaulting a woman, leading to her being hospitalized.
On Monday, June 30, 2025, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) was dispatched to a residence near the Powell community.
Upon arrival, deputies were met with an ambulance that was transporting a female to the hospital.
According to DCSO, the female suffered serious physical injuries and remains hospitalized.
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, DCSO obtained a warrant for the arrest of James Edward Wooten.
That same day, Wooten was seen driving a silver Nissan Altima near County Road 47 and 48.
Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Wooten fled.
After a pursuit, Wooten was arrested and is being charged with First Degree Assault, Felony Attempt to Elude, and DUI- combined influence.
