CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) — Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) special agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in Cleveland.
On Sunday June 29, 2025, at 11:23 p.m., a Cleveland police officer attempted to serve a warrant on a woman at a gas station in the 4100 block of APD 40.
The woman, later identified as Samantha Burd, was a passenger of a vehicle at the gas station.
According to the TBI, when the officer reached inside the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Johnny Broglin, sped away, dragging the officer.
The officer discharged his gun, striking the driver before falling from the vehicle.
Bradley County deputies located the vehicle and Broglin at 1:33 a.m., Monday morning at a residence in the 300 block of Sipes Road.
Broglin was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer involved sustained minor injuries.
Upon release, Broglin was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault against a Police Officer, Reckless Endangerment, Evading Arrest, and Driving on a Revoked License.
As of the TBI’s release, the woman with the outstanding warrant had not been located.
TBI agents are investigating the series of events in an attempt to locate the suspect.
