COHUTTA, Ga. (WDEF) — Police are asking for help identifying the driver of a truck involved in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning.
The incident happened between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m. on June 29, 2025 near Apison Road and Wolfe Street/Cohutta Varnell Road.
A black Chevrolet dually truck, possibly with Tennessee plates, hit multiple properties and left without reporting the damage.
The truck was last seen heading south on Cohutta Varnell Road. It likely has heavy front-end and undercarriage damage.
According to the Cohutta Police Department (CPD), officers recovered the vehicle’s front grille at the scene.
Later that morning or afternoon, reports came in that the truck may have been parked at the Burger Den in Varnell.
However, the vehicle was gone before police arrived.
Officers are working with nearby businesses to collect video footage.
Residents are urged to check home security cameras for any signs of the vehicle.
Even partial plate numbers can help police track it through law enforcement databases.
Anyone with information about the truck or driver should contact Sgt. Jeremy May at 706-222-0100 or email tips, anonymous or not, to cpdtips@townofcohutta.com.
